Rentacoder
Unregistered says : Hi, anyone of you have some experience with Renatcoder.com? I want to have a small piece of software built and I cannot believe the prices that people are paying. Does it really work?

Bernard says : Hi Peng, It's been a while since I looked at rentacoder, but from what I remember, people who are seeking programming help are often asking for the moon and offering crumbs.
That said, I do know of a few freelancers who have had satisfactory deals closed thanks to rentacoder.
Obviously, you will need to do your own due diligence when evaluating a potential coder, but sometimes you get what you pay for! More experienced coders may well have a library of code to draw from (and the experience to finish an app quickly).
ross_valusoft says : Hi Peng,
Yes, I have monitored rentacoder for a while. Have attempted to bid on a few and lost out to the low, low bidder. Have won one job after convincing the buyer that her max price was 80% low.
My biggest beef with rentacoder is the large number of no answers that I have to questions about clarifying requirements. In a way these are good outcomes though because it provides evidence of what future communications with the client are likely to be like. If s/he is too lazy to answer a question during the bidding period, when will they talk?
Rentacoder is probably very good for tiny to small sized projects, where the risk is minimal and you have access to many bidders. I have never used them though for any of my work.

Ross,
Why do you say the risk is minimal?

Because the loss on small to tiny projects via rentacoder is usually your own time if you are self employed. I don't know what the average winning project bid would be, but lets say US$100. If you are in the western world, that is no big deal, fortunately. You are not going to slit your wrists over it...I hope.

ross_valusoft says : Ooops,
Just noticed that I spoke of the risk being minimal in Peng's context of being a buyer, instead of newbie's as a coder.
Peng, your risk on a small project is minimal also because you can get another coder quickly. The rentacoder arbitrators usually favout the buyer from my sampling of their "judgements" and so you get your money back.

bas says : Sorry Amir to have edited your post, but your info is an exact copy of your webpage http://rentacoderfraud.bravehost.com/, so I would just keep the link.
Also, it is not wise to post personal information about other people on this board (like email addresses and personal accusations).
Sorry to hear this. Hope things work out.
