PMI Course And Certification

I doing the course through my company and they want me to get the certification. But I donīt see how the test itself will increase my value.
Is the certification that well reward in companies nowadays?

Here in Australia, we have State governments within a Federal government system. The State governments, many years ago, transfered some of their "powers" and rights to the Federal government to enhance the whole country's well being, but retained control of others, one of which is legislation covering, shall we call it, "industrial projects". The New South Wales state (whose capital is Sydney, of the 2000 Olympics fame) has legislated that all project managers must be certified or they will not be allowed to work on State-funded projects. Other states are likely to follow suit. So I think that it will be inevitable...you demand that doctors of medicine are "certified" before being released upon society..why not PMs?
