Job Gap Analysis

bas says : For a while I am thinking about formalizing a technique i and a lot more project managers perform; for it I will coin the term Job Gap Analysis.

While doing a project some people might get a new job. For example, people that would maintain the legacy system will be assigned to the project with the purpose of getting knowledge about the new system, so they can maintain the new system after the project is finished.

Those people are pulled from a secure standing organization and or pushed into a new, dynamic and sometimes unsure environment. New tools, new teams, new jobs.

When running the project people that fit this description might perform some counterproductive behavior. With Job Gap Analysis you look for differences between their old and new job to see where frustration might come from.

Think about differences in
- role
- team size
- power
- tools
- etc.
